Filled with gritty stories matched with some brilliant humor, if you are looking to supplement your genre fix that you haven't gotten since your favorite show has been taken off the air, THE DRESDEN FILES is definitely something worth picking up and checking out now that it is on DVD. ... The Dresden Files" doesn't quite have the storytelling ambitions or super-quippy dialogue of the Joss Whedon shows mentioned above, but if ghosts, amulets, potions and spells don't put you off, there's a decent helping of mystical escapism here.
The wizard's also got a ghostly live-in pal named Bob (Terrence Mann), who can shimmer away - through solid walls - when visitors turn up; the dryly witty Bob may be my favorite character so far, and I hope we get more from him as the series progresses.

hardboiled, noir speak, which instead comes off as clumsy melodrama.....Cruz exhibits the grit to handle this easily....Even worse is when the writing is downright sloppy or incorrect.....Unfortunately, the dialogue occasionally tries too hard to recreate....though, Blackthorne gets far more animated by the second episode, "The Boone Identity," in which he finally shows off the cocky sense of humor.... ...
