Modern Family

really, I'm just in awe of "Modern Family.....I love the dramatic choices by the excellent writers of this show, I love the little touches thrown in by this incredible cast....an excellent show like "Modern Family" and a promising show like "The Middle" will both be around for a while.....Unless the writers happen to have a really smart story to tell --....Here he is in one of my favorite scenes from the pilot:.... ... That said, this dysfunctional family comedy really is its own unique, brilliant gem, shining among an otherwise uncomfortably mediocre haul of cheap comedic rhinestones.....It's tough to do justice to just how ridiculous this scene becomes when Phil pulls a muscle in his back, falls down the stairs....Like the best actors in a Christopher Guest film, these two are at once absurd enough.... ... thank goodness, this excellent comedy gives these talented performers the kind of sharp material they deserve.....But if "Modern Family" keeps up the quality of the writing, what the heck --....has the finest cast of any new fall show....Ty Burrell is terrific as her husband, who attempts, to his kids' horror, to take the "cool dad" approach (not realizing that belting out songs from "High School Musical" is the most humiliating thing anyone's dad could possibly do)..... ...
