People did get very caught up in the slightly more realistic storyline with Jill's pregnancy which faithfully followed the stages. End of an era The poor motel did suffer: it was also burnt down in a bizarre storyline that had Meg appear to die but actually going on a cruise. ... Full Review

The last episode of "Crossroads" was screened in April 1988, and featured the owners selling the famous motel and settling down in the West Country somewhere. ITV's Daytime Programme Controller, Maureen Duffy, was quick to dismiss worries that the new version of the show would hark back to the old series, famous for wobbly sets and melodramatic storylines: "The new Crossroads will be absolutely of our time - with strong narrative dealing with the realities, issues and fun of everyday life. ...
